Degree Pathways

  • Minor, GD

    Undergraduate Minor in Global Development

    This minor provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in the S+DP program. The minor requires you to take core courses in subjects such as environmental engineering, sustainable design, and social and economic thinking. Participation in an internship or capstone project is also required.

  • Master of Arts, S+D

    Master of Arts in Sustainability + Development.

    This interdisciplinary project-based graduate program welcomes strong students from a variety of backgrounds including engineering, planning and architecture, government and public policy, geography, environmental studies, education, human-rights, design, landscape and art.

  • Master of Science, CEE

    Civil or Environmental Engineering MSc with a specialization in Sustainability + Development

    Make a difference and set apart your MSc qualification with an equitable and resilient approach to engineering. Building on a CEE MSc, students can add a minimum of three S+DP courses, and the S+DP Capstone for a Secondary Specialty in Global & Sustainable Development.

  • BA/BSc + MA (4+1)

    Bachelor of Arts/Science with Master of Arts in Sustainability + Development

    Accelerated Pathways for SMU Lyle Undergraduates to work towards an MA S+D while completing their Bachelors degree. Earn both degrees in less time by co-applying up to 9 credits during your undergrad. You are applicable to apply to the program early in your junior year.

These approaches are supported by our alignment with the Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity and the Deason Innovation Gym (DIG).
